Original: Nazzy was turned in to a shelter in Maryland because his family was losing their home. He was extremely upset at being in the shelter. The shelter contacted MAESSR, and our volunteers quickly jumped into action.
Nazzy has been a wonderful guest in his foster home. He gets along well with the other dogs and loves to play. A Frisbee is his favorite, but he will play just about anything. Nazzy is totally housetrained and has nice house manners. Being crated is something he does not enjoy, though, and he cries and whines if crated. Luckily, Nazzy has done well with free run of his foster home while his foster parents are at work.
When he was neutered, Nazzy had a couple of fatty cysts removed from his leg, so those will no longer bother him. He also had a nasty lip-fold dermatitis that was stinky when he first arrived in foster care. This condition was then treated with antibiotics and regular cleansing to help clear it up. Nazzy was also started on an inexpensive medication for anxiety to help him through all of his transitions. It is unknown how long he will need to be on this medication, but it is allowing him to be more relaxed through a multitude of changes.
This is one very playful, fun, lover-boy who is looking for a permanent home. Is there space for Nazzy’s dog bed next to your bed?
Update 09/23/09: Though Nazzy was initially promising in many ways, his core temperament became clear with additional time in foster care. This led his foster family and other volunteers who worked with him to feel he would not be suitable for placement.
