Murphy has been adopted!

Murphy has been with his family for all of his 11 years. He was the center of attention and had the house to himself during the day and was quite happy about that. Four months ago an 18 month old adopted baby came to stay. At first Murphy was fine. He has always been good with visiting children (ages 8 and 9). However, Murphy has realized that the noise and chaos of this “new one” is not going away and he is not happy. He is chewing the baby’s things and is agitated by the noise and jealous of the attention that the baby is getting. He just does not understand toddlers and would like to have his old life back.

Murphy is accustomed to a spot on the couch and in his owner’s bed. He is housetrained and is good in the house and outside where he prefers to be with his people and does not run off. He does not need a crate and has not used one since he was a puppy. On the weekends they go to a farm where he is good with the horses and goats. He loves to run in the fields. He has lived peacefully with an older, indoor/outdoor cat and was depressed when his cat buddy died.

Murphy has a couple of age related fatty lumps and some arthritis which is responding to glycoflex and Rimadyl. The one health issue of note is two occasions of bloat. Two years ago he had surgery to stabilize his stomach to prevent a reoccurance. His new family should be aware that he should not over eat, eat too fast or get over excited at dinner time.

Although Murphy seems to hate Border Collies, he is fine with other dogs. He has had no formal obedience training but knows lots of words such as sit, come, stay, paw and down. He is fine at the groomer and good in the car.

  Murphy loves to swim in the river, go for walks with his people and nap in a quiet sunny spot. If you are past the crazy kid stuff in your life and would like a friend, Murphy is the man for you.
