Update 11/14/05:
Muffin flew via “Springer Air” from her foster home in Ohio to her new foster home in Virginia. It was likely her first flight, and she did great. She is determined to get a forever home for Christmas. Her new foster mom was able to see immediately upon meeting Muffin that she is a World Class Cuddlebug…so anyone who does not like to cuddle will need to keep on looking for another dog.
In her new foster home, Muffin is learning to get along with her nine foster siblings and has made fantastic progress in just three days. She does well with the other dogs when there are no people around.
It’s people that Muffin really loves and wants to be with every moment. She would love to have a home where she was not left alone for long hours at a time. If you want a family member that will worship the ground you walk on in exchange for some love, then Muffin is the one for you!!
More info will be coming soon!!!
Update 07/26/05:
Muffin continues to do well in her foster home and so impresses her foster mom…….and this foster mom is one who has guided lots and lots and lots of springers to their “new beginnings.” Given the great progress that Muffin has made and her truly sweet way of treating her people, it amazes her foster mom that no one has chosen to adopt this gal. She knows they are missing out on one of the best companions they could ask for. Her foster mom assures that Muffin does not act her age, and certainly by springer standards, eight years is mature but definitely not “over the hill.” Muffin has many more years of loyalty to offer a family who is willing to give her their hearts and a forever home.
Update 04/29/05:
With more time in her foster home, Muffin’s mom has gotten to know this sweetie even better, and her earlier assessments about Muffin hold true. Muffin can be a loyal companion and is calm and easy to live with. She just wants someone to spend time with her. She is a dog who really thrives on the attention of people in her life. Her only fault is that she cannot be with other dogs. She will do best in an adopting home where she will be an “only” dog and with a family who will dote on her and lavish the love on her that she missed out on for so many years. She is also doing great on her housetraining and is ready for her new beginning.
Update 02/22/05:
In just a little over two months, Muffin has made the transition from being an outdoor dog used only for breeding to life as an indoor lady of leisure. She is now ready for an adopting home and, if her foster family did not already have a home full of springers, she might be staying put. Muffin’s foster mom knows she is a dog who really craves human interaction. She is very submissive with people. If she could keep her, it would be because Muffin has been through so much, is so sweet, and deserves a second chance.
While Muffin should be an “only” dog and in a home without cats, her foster mom feels that she would be great around kids. She does not behave like an 8-year-old, and with her medium energy level, could keep up with the human activity in a normal, family household. She would benefit from being in a home where she would not be alone for lengthy times but is reliable through the night, despite the kidney loss.
Everyone who visits at her foster home is so impressed with Muffin’s sweetness and her beautiful looks. She has not had an easy life and still has so much love in her to give. If you feel she would fit into your heart and lifestyle, please ask today about offering her your home.
Update 02/04/05:
This very pretty tricolor has lived with her foster family for two months now and has convinced them that she is total sweetness. She had lived outdoors most of her life and has had a lot of learning to do about being an indoor dog, but she has made good progress. She is attentive to her foster mom and has started learning basic commands.
Muffin has also made progress with her housetraining. She is reliable for about 4 hours at this time, and, because of her bladder repair, she may have reached her potential. She will do best with an adopting family where someone is home much of the time. For a retired couple or someone with a home-based business and a desire to have a sweet little companion, Muffin could be the perfect choice.
Original:
Muffin is one of 5 dogs surrendered to MAESSR when their owner developed some health problems and could no longer physically or financially care for the dogs. The group had been kenneled outside and had limited experience inside the home. They all appeared healthy when first visited by a MAESSR volunteer, but were in need of better living conditions and basic grooming. None were UTD or on heartworm preventative. Muffin had been used to produce puppies for her owner’s commercial breeding program. When Muffin was relinquished to MAESSR she was immediately spayed. An error during the spay procedure caused Muffin to lose part of her bladder and a kidney. She has recuperated nicely and is waiting for someone to love her.
Now that Muffin is in her nice warm foster home, this wonderful, sweet girl is blossoming. She has a nonstop wagging tail and desire to be with a human. She is OK with dogs she knows and also with cats and children. Like the rest of the dogs in this group, Muffin needs some work on her housetraining and needs someone who will be able to teach her basic obedience. Her foster mom can see that Muffin really wants to please her human, so she should be a ready learner.
Muffin has not had an easy life, but it has not dampened her loving personality. She deserves someone to love and care for her, and in turn, she is will give twice as much love back.
