Updated 9/13/06: During a recent visit to the vet, Moshannon had a very infected tooth extracted. While he was under, the vet removed a suspicious lump which, thankfully, turned out to be nothing. When being examined, the vet also discovered Mo’s blood pressure was a little high and recommended starting him on Anapril. This will be a long-term med for him with a cost of approximately $30.00 per month. The only other concern was finding excess protein in his urine. The vet felt this could be a result of the rotten tooth and wants to wait a couple of weeks before checking him again. Overall, she feels that Mo is in good condition for his age and should have a normal life expectancy with continued attention to his basic health care.
Moshannon continues to blossom and show his foster family what an extraordinary lover boy he is. His favorite activities and good manners are emerging. Mo LOVES to ride in the car. Every time anyone goes out the door, he is eager to be included. He would ride forever if he could. When the leashes come out, Moshannon wants to WALK. He is heartbroken if he does not get to go. Mo loves playing with toys too and is very gentle with them.
Mo is housebroken and trustworthy for up to 9 hours. This boy would love to sleep in the bed with his foster parents, but there is not room, so he settles bedside on the floor. He does get on furniture when he thinks no one will notice, the chance for such comfort is just too much to pass up. In gentlemanly fashion, he does pass on counter surfing and trash picking. Mo continues to do extremely well with the other dogs in his foster home. His foster mom feels that he could be placed with other dogs without incident.
Moshannon is the perfect household companion. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy?
Original: As Moshannon gets acquainted with his foster family, his likes and dislikes are beginning to emerge. Some of his least favorite things include wet grass, swimming, and grooming. The list of things he does like is fortunately longer and possibly more important in daily life. He is good with all adults and prefers older children, that is, teenagers, to younger kids. He treats people well and doesn’t jump up on them. He doesn’t bark at them excessively or beg for their last bite of lunch. He likes having someone to hike with and is always ready to play with a tennis ball.
Moshannon is house trained but not crate trained and will counter surf when he has the chance. He knows “sit”, “stay,” and he will come back when called. He’s okay on the leash and can be trusted off leash. When his people get home, Moshannon likes to grab the closest toy and come running to greet them with his prize. He is an excellent rider in the car and enjoys going whenever the car leaves home.
Moshannon was relinquished to MAESSR because he was not getting along with the other 2 dogs in his previous home. He is currently in a foster home with ten other dogs and there have not been any problems. He is simply adapting. Moshannon would love to have a home where he is loved and played with. He is a dog who has enjoyed a great deal of attention from the people around him in the past and he would love to have that in his life again. It would be great if there were no other dogs, but he will do his best to get along with them if there are. More on “Mo” as he settles in more.
