Original: “Monet is very demanding of attention; she wants to play and cuddle and isn’t shy about making her needs known.”
Before a Springer breeder in Virginia died, she specified that she wanted MAESSR to place the dogs in her kennel. One of the females was pregnant when she came into foster care, and she subsequently gave birth to six puppies. Monet is one of this litter and she is now ready to find her new home. Is that puppy breath wafting through the air? Indeed! Monet and her littermates are enjoying life as puppies should—playing and eating and sleeping.
Monet has always been slightly larger than her siblings, and absolutely adores mealtime. The puppies are given individual feeding bowls and when she is done with her meal, she tries to steal the others’ food. And she inevitably puts her feet in the bowls. Since she’s incredibly food-motivated, her new owners will need to watch her weight.
Extremely adventurous, Monet was the first puppy to start exploring the world away from her mom, Abby. In her explorations Monet made friends with the resident male Springer who is obsessed with these puppies. She enjoys his attention and she was the first to really start playing with him. This baby may be a future water dog, too, as she is happy during baths putting up little fuss.
Monet is very demanding of attention; she wants to play and cuddle and isn’t shy about making her needs known. She was a good girl at the vet’s office soaking in all of the attention she was getting from the techs. Riding in the car to this appointment was no problem for her, either.
While Monet has not met the resident cats, she loves the older dogs in the household. All the puppies play very nicely with each other, without excessive biting or growling. When their foster parents are out of the house, the puppies are in their room in a penned-in area.
Since the puppies have not had all of their puppy shots yet, they have not been taken into the yard. They eliminate on puppy pads for now; housetraining will have to wait for a bit.
Potential adopters should note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
How about coming with Monet on one of her adventures? She would love to have you join in the fun!
