Update 09/14/10:
All the news on Molly Blu is terrific! She is a totally new dog. Her eyes now sparkle. Her thyroid medication has kicked in and she has lots more energy. She is actually running and playing with toys now. Molly Blu constantly has a toy in her mouth and wants you to play with her all the time. It is amazing how losing six pounds makes you feel so much better!
Improving thyroid levels are helping Molly with other problems too. Her ear infections have totally cleared and her hair is growing back. Her foster mom had shaved off the old dead coat, so her body could concentrate on making a new one. Molly will have her beautiful new fur coat in time for the chilly days of fall and will be ready to play and snuggle the winter away with one very lucky family.
Original:
Molly Blu and her buddy, Bandit, were relinquished to MAESSR when their owner’s health became so bad that she could no longer care for them. In overall good health herself, Molly is working on a few very treatable issues. At her vet check yeast infections were found in both ears and treatment was started. She is also about 20 pounds overweight. Testing for thyroid levels showed hers to be low so she is beginning an inexpensive daily medication. Hopefully she will soon start to lose those pounds as her thyroid levels correct. She has significant hair loss on her back and rear, another common sign of thyroid problems, but that should come back soon too. Molly Blu loves to play ball but, at the moment, her joints hurt so badly from the weight that she really cannot be very active.
In every way, Molly Blu is a Virginia SWEETHEART!! She loves to ride in the car and go for walks. She is totally house trained and has wonderful house manners. Never one to pass up a soft spot, she will get on the sofa to sleep. Most of all, Molly really likes to be with her people.
Keep watching for updates on this beautiful girl as she starts to feel better.
