When he lost his job, Molly’s Pennsylvania owner moved in with his brother. Due to tight living quarters and vet visits that were a financial strain, a heartbreaking decision was made to relinquish Molly to MAESSR’s care.
Molly loves people and gets very excited when someone comes to greet her. She loves to give kisses! While she hasn’t been exposed to small children since being with her foster family, it was reported that she does well with them. She gets along wonderfully with the foster family’s two Springers and enjoys a good game of “tug-o-war” with them. Molly doesn’t guard her food dish; in fact, she has shared the same bowl with the resident dogs. Her foster parents think Molly’s such a silly girl. She loves squeaky toys! This playful pup will make her own game of tossing the toys up in the air to play with them!
Fully housetrained, when Molly needs to go out, she will come up to a foster parent and swat her paw. If this doesn’t result in the desired action, she will bark to indicate her need. Good girl! Molly also is crate trained and often goes to her crate just to take a break during the day. At night she will sleep on the floor beside her foster parents’ bed, but there are times when her foster dad wakes up and Molly is right there in bed with the rest of them. Usually one of her foster parents is home; but when both are gone, she is not confined to her crate and does quite well. A normal barker, Molly will bark if she hears something or someone outside or at the door.
There has been no evidence of counter-surfing since Molly has been a guest in her foster home. She has not gotten into the trash, which has a cover, and she does not chew anything inappropriate. Occasionally she will get on the couch for a rest with her foster family, which is permitted. This smart girl knows the commands “sit” and “stay.”
When she goes out, Molly is on a leash. She will pull, especially if she sees a squirrel or rabbit, so she hasn’t been taken on too many walks due to her leash pulling. Molly would probably like a fenced yard so she can run around after critters to burn off some energy. It is reported that she was obtained from West Virginia and that her parents are trained to hunt; it appears that Molly also might have been a good hunter.
Molly travels well in the car. Her foster parents have a blanket on the car seat and she likes to scratch and nudge the blanket like she is making a “nest.” Eventually she settles down, but it’s clear that she loves to go for rides!
A good girl at the vet’s office for her checkup, Molly was found to be in very good health. It was suggested that she could stand to look a few pounds which a little exercise should take care of. With her foster mom holding her still, Molly’s foster dad cleaned her ears without problems.
A good natured girl, Molly would fit in with most families. This happy pup would love to have a special someone supply her with lots of hugs and let her know how sweet she is!
