When their owner’s work schedule and living situation both changed drastically, Molly and her half-brother Paddy became MAESSR dogs. These lovely seniors were used to having someone home constantly and having access to their yard on demand. With a move pending to a condo with no yard and with the dogs being left alone for long periods of time, their owner felt it would be best for Molly and Paddy to find new homes where they would enjoy a better living situation.
Despite her real friendliness, Molly likes to take on the role as watch dog, barking when she sees someone around her property. Once she meets the newcomer, she is fine with them. She has the same tactic when meeting new dogs. Molly barks and lunges at another dog at first but once she sniffs them, she is fine with them. She has never been around cats. In her previous home, she lived with a ten year old girl and was fine with her.
Molly has nice house manners. Completely trustworthy, she enjoys free reign of the house when her foster mom is out. She is crate trained too, but since she is not a chewer and she is housetrained, crating her has not been necessary. Occasionally, Molly will take a peek to see what is on the counter, but a firm “off” gets her feet back onto the floor. When her foster family is eating, Molly does not beg. Good girl!
Out in the yard, Molly likes to dig but mostly one spot. Although she is actually into resting more than she is in playing, Molly does enjoy going for walks and swimming. For the first part of the walk, Molly pulls but soon settles down and walks nicely. She can also be trusted off leash. Molly is always willing to go for a car ride and is a good passenger. Her previous owner taught her to come to her name being called and she responds to “sit,” “stay,” and “give paw.” When it is time for a treat, Molly enjoys munching on milk bones or rawhides or even a good soup bone. The latter two are high value treats for Molly and she will guard them from other dogs.
Although generally good at the groomer, Molly still does not like to have her nails clipped. When given the opportunity, she pulls her paws away, but has never nipped at the groomer. Her ears are good and seldom need cleaning unlike her brother’s ears.
Molly is a lovely girl who has many good years ahead of her. She would love to share them with you!
