Update 08/10/11:
As follow up to a previous injury, Miss Molly had a metal plate removed from her jaw last week. She is still on pain medication and antibiotics. But, as in true Springer fashion, you would never know anything was wrong with her. She is a happy, fun-loving little girl.
As must happen with youngsters, Molly’s training is underway. She does have a little problem with her four on the floor when greeting people but her foster parents continue to work with her on it. She has learned sit but sometimes “forgets” and has to be reminded. One problem Molly has is with getting on the bed. She does try to avoid jumping on it but, with 3 resident dogs encouraging her to get up there with them, what is a girl to do??? :-)!
Molly has met a lot of new people since coming into foster care and loves everyone! She hasn’t been camping since she came to live with her family but she has been exposed to car riding and loved it. She was a dream! She laid down on the back seat and was very quiet.
When going to the vet, Molly walked pretty well on her leash. She’s ready to step out for more opportunities to see how she’ll do elsewhere.
One potentially annoying trait this girl has is that she likes to “talk” and “talk” and “talk.” She has a really shrill bark and much to say :)). Molly especially loves to bark at people and stopping her is a hard go right now. She is so playful and thinks that the more she barks the more attention she’ll get. As with many young pups, she also likes to mouth. Being a smart girl, Molly wants to learn the things that lead to a well-mannered Springer that is welcomed every where she goes! For now, she’s a completely normal work in progress. She’s getting a good start in her foster home and is looking forward to formal school days with her furever family.
More on her to come!
Original:
Molly was relinquished to MAESSR because she and the three year old female Springer in their Virginia family did not always get along and would fight. This led to jaw surgery, complete with plates and pins in her jaw after its being broken from a fight with the other Springer when Molly was six months old.
Housetrained and crate trained, Molly is a good little girl who loves being with her people, even sleeping in bed with her foster parents at night. She really doesn’t chew on inappropriate items very often; however, she still is a puppy who needs watching. Very loving with adults and children, Molly has a very sweet temperament and has never grumbled at anyone. When strangers come into the house, Molly barks for a bit and then stops; she will jump on people in excitement to greet them. Her foster family is working with her on not jumping.
Molly has had no formal obedience training and doesn’t know any commands. Molly’s forever family must take her for obedience training that MAESSR requires for dogs a year and younger. In the car, Molly already rides like a pro, sitting quietly in the back seat. At mealtime, Molly eats quickly but has no problem with her food bowl being moved or taken. She has been groomed several times, and she had no issues with this process. Having her ears and paws touched does not bother her in the least.
This little girl is not really into toys, but she will chase a ball when thrown although she will not pick it up. What she loves to do is to run in the yard and help her foster parents to garden by digging holes. She adores playing in the kiddie pool at her foster home. She keeps running around the pool and dunking her nose having the best time!
This playful girl is a total love bug who will bring joy to her new family.
