Update 06/17/11:
When Molly’s owner passed away, her foster family welcomed her and picked up, right where her owner left off. They met Molly’s every need, spoiled her rotten, and loved her as their own.
Miss Molly passed away this week. Though indebted to her MAESSR family, perhaps the truest blessing would be if Molly has found her beloved owner, waiting for her at the Bridge.
Original:
This gentle Virginian came into MAESSR’s care when her owner passed away. Molly’s owner was always taking her hiking and doing things with her. Molly was truly her pride and joy.
At her vet check, several issues were discussed that could lead to improved health for Molly. The first was a nasty skin infection that is being treated with antibiotics and should clear up. Another was low thyroid levels when tested. This is not uncommon and is easily corrected with an inexpensive daily supplement. Molly is reliably housetrained but does experience urinary incontinence and is benefiting from an inexpensive medication to resolve it.
One last health concern is that Molly is showing signs of doggy dementia. Many times she does not seem to know where she is and what she is doing. Her family is trying a medication to see if that can make an improvement. So far, it is not working but other alternatives are available.
On the brighter side, Molly loves to sleep in bed with her foster parents. Possibly the closeness brings back great memories for her. Now for what must be a hoot to see – Molly also sleeps in the bath tub if her foster parents’ bed is full! She will countersurf too if opportunity presents itself and she is quick. She is not to be underestimated when other edible enticements are at hand either – she actually stole a baked potato off her foster dad’s plate while he was eating it. Oh, my, Miss Molly!
She’s a sweetie who needs someone to walk with, sleep with, and love. If you have the same needs, please ask about meeting her.
