Molly was relinquished by a family when they found they did not have enough time to give her. She has lots of energy to release, and, they felt it best that she go to a home that could be more attentive to her needs. Molly lived with young children and has no issues with being around them.
In her previous home Molly was crated during the day and at night. In her foster home, she is crated while her foster parent is at work, but she is given a mid-day walk. She is not happy to go into her crate and will bark, but, eventually settles down. During the night she is allowed free run of the bedroom as are the resident dogs. Given her energy level and curious nature, she would most likely get into trouble if given free run of the house for extended periods of time.
Molly is great with other dogs in her foster home. She eats next to them and has no sharing issues. Her foster dad has been able to take food away from her while she is eating and any other item for that matter. Molly loves to chase and be chased and has started to physically interact with the other dogs as she gets more comfortable. She does not have a clue about what is right or wrong, so she will use furniture, walls or any other item as part of her game. Her foster dad is beginning to teach her about what is “off limits.” At this time she is unknown with cats and does not seem to have any fear of household noises.
Molly is housebroken and sits in front of the door when she needs to go out. She does her business outside but wants someone to be with her. Otherwise, she will just follow you back inside. This gal is definitely not a runner. She can be quite persistent about getting attention and will constantly nudge a hand or stand up on you to get attention. She will do anything to get to the person in her life, including climbing on people, furniture, other dogs or scratching at doors. Along with learning “limits,” Molly also needs to learn some basic manners!
Typical of her age, Molly is very playful. She wanted to play with the Swiffer one night. She will stand on her back legs to check out things with her little tail going a mile a minute. She reminds her foster dad of a hummingbird when she does that. She is especially fun to watch run because one of her back legs is all white and the other all black.
Molly is a healthy, young adult who has gotten away with doing pretty much what she pleases to this point. She needs to learn basic commands and limits. She wants to be with people and would do well in a family with children or with another young dog for a playmate. She needs an adopting family who will not only enjoy her playfulness but can commit to obedience training with her. As she learns and matures, she has great potential to become a wonderful family member and a great companion.
