Update 2/28/05:
Molly had a birthday this month and is now 13. Her foster family didn’t share details about how they helped her celebrate, but they didn’t let it pass unnoticed! They can see a BIG improvement in Molly’s health since she came to live with them. She has gained strength and turned into a definite “love bug.” She adores attention, and, she is so beautiful, too. Her coat has grown out nicely and is full now that her meds are in line. She still occasionally has a “solid” accident and will do best where someone is home with her much of the time, perhaps a retired person or someone with a home-based business. She gets along great with the resident dogs in her foster home and could be a good companion to a middle age or senior dog in an adopting home. Another big plus for Molly would be to live in a home that is on one level so she can be around her people all the time. This would likely be the best possible birthday present Molly could receive. Is this a gift you can give?
Update 1/2/05:
With an attentive family and a visit to the vet, Molly is actually doing a LOT better than when she entered foster care. She was stable then, but has shown very nice improvement. She is getting stronger and eating well. She has put a little weight on with some adjustments in her diet. She is also doing better on the stairs, although she is still blocked from them while her family is gone. Her accidents in the house have decreased, but do happen occasionally.
During her vet visit, a heart murmur was detected which is consistent with her age. Her medications were reassessed, with one being reduced, and, glucosamine being added.
She continues to be a love bug, and sometimes her foster family thinks she actually hears once in a while, especially loud, low-pitched voices. She seems happy, and actually jumps around some when her foster family comes home or is fixing their dinner. Molly is ready for an adopting family who continue to monitor her health and will love her through her golden years. She is truly a sweet gal and deserves nothing less!
Original:
Molly is a sweet ole gal who went to her current foster home the day after Thanksgiving. She was relinquished because her owner’s new husband has a dog who was picking on her. It’s easy to see how this might happen as she is quite frail and timid. She is a sweetie though and will turn 13 in February!
Molly has several health issues that are being dealt with. She is deaf and on medication for her heart and thyroid. Molly also has arthritis in her lower back. It appears that possible food allergies are giving her ears a problem and that too is being worked on. None of this has affected her appetite, and, she is always ready at mealtime. Anytime her foster mom is in the kitchen, Molly is right there, alongside the resident dogs, offering her help in cleaning up the floor if anything is accidentally dropped.
Molly is getting along great with her 11-year-old foster brother and 5-year-old foster sister. However, she has trouble navigating the stairs and is spending a little more time in the kitchen area than she would probably like. She handles this quite well, as long as she has her nice comfy bed nearby! She has had a number of accidents of the solid kind, but her foster family is hopeful that this will improve as she gets better acquainted with their schedule. She seems reliable to hold her urine for a good eight hours.
Molly will need a home that is preferably on one level and a dedicated person who has the time and patience to love her and care for her through all the rest of her days. Do you have that soft spot in your heart for this sweet ole gal?
