Update 12/16/2015: “What fun he will be in the snow, playing with his people and perhaps canine siblings!”
Mojo is a happy guy in his foster home. He’s gained some weight and is not receiving his foster mom’s homemade meals any more. Then again, maybe he’s not so happy…
He will chase smaller animals…dogs, cats, squirrels…if allowed, but will stop when he hears a stern voice. If a cat runs by him, he will give chase but, again, stop when he is called and come for kisses. Cats who saunter by with their normal cat attitude are not even noticed. Mojo is not allowed to chase inside his foster home, but could run amuck with an owner who permits bad behavior; this is one smart dog!! He does make himself at home on furniture and in bed.
Mojo was used to running the show with other animals, but he is learning to share and is showing tremendous improvement. Due to the HUGE toy box in his foster house and an overabundance to pick from, Mojo has learned that if what he wants is taken, he should check out the toy box and pick something else. Once he picks that precious item, he then struts among the resident dogs and shows his mom as if to say, “…I got it!!!” He has also learned that there are consequences to his actions and that he needs to think before he reacts.
This handsome fellow is extremely intelligent and even more affectionate. Mojo shows no aggression toward humans taking away food, bones or toys although he may not understand the actions of children who also might not understand boundaries.
This love of a Springer will fit into almost any home since he has shown he can live with dogs and cats of any size. What fun he will be in the snow, playing with his people and perhaps canine siblings! Do you want some mojo in your life in the form of a super, super Springer?
Original: “Mojo is one sweet, confident guy who loves attention and giving kisses.”
Mojo and his brother, Eli, came from Tennessee when family changes required finding these sweet boys a new home. Formerly outside dogs, they both love the change in status since arriving at their foster home. Concerned that going outdoors might be a permanent arrangement, they make sure that their foster mom is coming with them before they venture outside!
It was discovered that he and his brother have a case of kennel cough and they are currently receiving treatment. Although they had to be separated from the resident dogs and are staying in a separate room, they are already feeling much better and should make a full recovery in a week or two.
Mojo is one sweet, confident guy who loves attention and giving kisses. He knows basic commands and is very well-behaved. Housetrained, Mojo will cry as a signal to be let out. A crate has not been introduced since he has been a trustworthy guest. Mojo loves his toys and shows no guarding issues with people; toys and bones can be removed from his mouth without a problem. He will, however, let another dog know that he prefers NOT to share by giving a soft grumble and turning his head away if an attempt is made to take his toy. Previous to his confinement, Mojo was found to be good with other dogs when introduced slowly. He’s outwardly friendly and looks to greet others, but grumbles if a dog tries to become too friendly too quickly. This boy just needs a little space to size up a new friend.
Mojo is learning to walk on a leash like a gentleman. His leash manners aren’t too bad; it’s just that he needs to understand he’s going for a WALK. There’s no problem with Mojo when it comes to traveling in the car. He was great at the vet, too, where he was found to be several pounds underweight. He has already put on three pounds after one week in foster care and he should be at his ideal weight soon.
This sweet boy would love a forever family and home to call his own. What a wonderful addition Mojo would make to some lucky family.
