Original: “Even though he is a young pup and playful, Moe is quite mellow and well-behaved.”
When health issues forced his Virginia owner to find him a new home, young Moe became a MAESSR boy.
Even though he is a young pup and playful, Moe is quite mellow and well-behaved. He also understands the basics of housetraining, as there have only been two accidents due to a urinary tract infection. He doesn’t yet have a signal to go out, but he is taken out regularly. Crate trained, Moe goes in willingly when his foster mom goes out and when he eats his meals. He sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom, and on occasion will sneak up on his foster mom’s bed. This sweet boy has been seen prancing around with shoes in his mouth but will not chew them. Moe is learning that counter-surfing is not acceptable behavior.
Moe travels very well in the car, settling in the back seat to enjoy the ride. His leash manners are coming along, and he has been doing much better with the Easy Walk harness. So far he just knows “sit,” and he has reasonable recall from the fenced yard. An all-around good natured fellow, Moe likes to play fetch, carry around his toys, and swim. He had a wonderful time at doggie daycare, and the staff just loved him.
It’s important for prospective adopters to understand that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under one-year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
Moe is a beautiful and lovable boy that would like a home with plenty of toys and another dog to share playtime. A place to swim occasionally – even just a baby pool – would be a big bonus, too, since Moe loves water. This sweet boy will make a fine addition to a family committed to guiding him through puppyhood.
