Original: Misty was adopted from a Maryland shelter by her previous owner about seven months ago and was having intermittent spats with the resident 12-year-old female canine, most likely food related, so she was relinquished to MAESSR.
This gorgeous Springer girl has shown no aggression to the dogs in her current foster home. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate at night and is free to roam the house during the day. Misty is completely housebroken, taking care of business outside quickly in the morning and afternoon so she can get back in for meals. She likes to ride in the car and is quiet, but she rides best on an empty stomach. If the route is curvy and she has a full stomach, Misty will get car sick. She’s better with a window rolled down for some air.
Although Misty is a counter-surfer, she does have good taste. She and the resident Springer strategically extracted a new loaf of three seed bread from the counter and ate all but two slices of it. Then, the next day, they got into the trash and ate the last bit. Also, Misty has shown some aptitude for unscrewing the dog food container lid, all while maintaining a look of “Who, me? It was the other dog!” on her pretty face.
Misty doesn’t chew on inappropriate objects, but she loves to squeak toys and fling them in the air to tempt her foster folks into throwing them for her to retrieve. She knows sit, high-five, and stay and will generally come on command if no food is in the opposite direction. She also obeys when told to stay in the kitchen while the foster folks eat meals.
When meeting other dogs, Misty is pretty indifferent, though definitely prefers Springers. When a non-resident terrier tried to play with her and she wasn’t interested, she gave an appropriate response and just ignored him. Misty loves walks, and she goes running up to 2.5 miles at lunchtime, not minding a being in a brace with another Springer or the resident terrier. She is a medium when it comes to energy level. While her foster mom works nearby, Misty naps or hangs out for four hours at a time.
This liver and white darling is just waiting for her forever family to come for her and make her their own!
