Milo is known as Mikey in his foster home as this name just suits him better. Mikey came from a Virginia shelter where they received him as a stray. He must have been on his own for a while since the shelter’s groomer cut nine pounds of hair and mats off him. He was a very good boy through the entire process. When MAESSR learned about Mikey it was decided to take this Cocker Spaniel boy into our program.

Mikey has a wonderful, sweet temperament. He occasionally will growl and gruff at the other dogs in his foster home, but he is just trying to protect his mom. He has not started any fights and stops when he is told to knock it off.

Mikey is housetrained. He would be a master counter-surfer if he was just a little taller!

Mikey rides well in the car. He loves to play with his tennis ball. At night he sleeps cuddled up to his foster mom’s back.

When he was at the shelter, Mikey had a seizure. He has had five additional seizures while in his foster home. He receives medication for his seizures twice daily at a cost of approximately $25 per month. When he has a seizure, Mikey will fall over, his body will shake, and his limbs go very stiff. Occasionally he loses control of his bowels during a seizure. It lasts maybe 60 to 90 seconds and then he comes back around. He will be wobbly on his feet for a little while, then is fine.

Because his thyroid levels are low, Mikey also receives a very inexpensive medication to regulate them.

Mikey is great for grooming. He is not thrilled to have his ears or feet done, but his foster mom has never met a Cocker that does like that.

Mikey is such a sweetie. Someone is going to be lucky to have the companionship and love he offers.
