Original: “Besides enjoying the attention of the vet and her staff, Millie did great at the groomer. She just gave kisses the entire time!”
Millie was relinquished to rescue because her North Carolina family was worried about her resource guarding and their young children. The difficult decision was made so that she could find a good new home without youngsters.
Even though she had not been around other dogs much in her lifetime, Millie has done extremely well with the dogs in her foster home. Several times, she has been seen playing with the 13 month old Springer puppy in her foster home. It was just too cute!
Millie has nice house manners. Housetrained but not crate trained, she is trustworthy and is given full run of the house when her foster family is out. This pretty lady does not chew inappropriately, but she does like to counter-surf. Not much of a barker, Millie is unfazed by thunder storms or having her people leave the house. At night she contentedly sleeps on a dog bed in her foster parents’ room.
Well-trained, Millie knows not to jump on people and she walks well on leash. She responds to the basic commands “sit,” “lie down,” and “come.” When it is time to go somewhere in the car, Millie is a good riding companion, settling in and enjoying the ride.
Millie is NOT comfortable with higher energy, wild children, though. In her previous home, when overly energetic children came over, her owners put her in another room for Millie’s sanity and safety. Her foster parents feel she would do well in most any home without young children constantly about.
When she first came into foster care, Millie seemed stiff when walking and trying to get up. So, her foster mom consulted with the vet and they put her on a joint supplement and a pain medication. Millie is now moving very well– enough to play with the young dogs in her foster home! Millie is a bit overweight, but now that she is feeling better and is more active, she will begin to lose those unwanted pounds. Besides enjoying the attention of the vet and her staff, Millie did great at the groomer. She just gave kisses the entire time!
This sweet and loving girl is looking for a forever family who will adore her just as much as she will adore them. No children, though!
