Original: At 77 pounds and with the bearing of a true gentleman, Miles is indeed a giant among Springers. He is also a victim of divorce. Neither of his original owners could provide him a home when they moved into apartment settings, so Miles stayed a brief time with a friend of the family. He was spending very long hours by himself and getting a little sad. With hopes of more companionship for Miles, he was relinquished to MAESSR.
When Miles had his physical, it was discovered that he has hypothyroidism. Fortunately, this is a very treatable condition that can be corrected with an inexpensive daily medication. A one-month supply from his foster mom’s vet cost $12.00. Periodic bloodwork to monitor Miles’ kidneys, liver, and to tweak the medication is appropriate follow-up. With medication, Miles can be expected to live a normal, active life.
Miles definitely has gained companions with the move to his foster home. He is doing great with his foster brothers and there are 3 of them! Miles had lived previously with another dog and a cat and can appreciate the company of both. He plays well with the resident 7-year-old boy in his foster home and savors the affection from anyone and everyone around him. He exhibits excellent house manners and loves to sleep in his crate at night, with the door open.
As he settles in at his foster home, there will be more news to share on this fellow…….
