Original: “She has mastered going in and out, climbing the stairs, and knowing where her safe place is– her crate and in her foster mom’s lap.”
Mia and her littermate Ciao Bella became MAESSR puppies when a Maryland breeder fell ill and had to rehome his Springers.
Mia is Italian for mine/my or wished for child. She is a shy timid little girl around people and new experiences. She loves to play with her littermate and enjoys toys. She enjoys being around the two resident Springers and has been known to cuddle with the Big Brown Boy (80 pound Springer). When arriving at her foster home, she was overwhelmed with all the new experiences. She has mastered going in and out, climbing the stairs, and knowing where her safe place is– her crate and in her foster mom’s lap.
This fun loving, timid little girl warms up slowly but is a lap full of love. Her sweet cuddles are quick to steal your heart. Her foster parents 2 ½ year old grandson initially was a bit much for her with his high pitched voice and sudden movements—all very intimidating. However, this toddler is very gentle with dogs and eventually Mia allowed him to pet her and she helped him play with his toys. She is slow to warm up to new people but will stand at a distance with her cute wiggle butt going.
Crate training has been a breeze as this is her safe place. Her crate is in the foster parent’s bedroom next to her sister’s crate. Sleeping all night is no problem for her and she will self-crate when she needs a nap or to get away from something scary such as the vacuum cleaner. She is crated when her foster parents aren’t home. Potty training has been going well as she and her foster family spend a lot of time outside. Praises and treats are her reward.
Mia has had one puppy training class. This class was a bit overwhelming but she participated in the name game, “touch,” and “sit.” Leash walking is an on-going project. Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in one series of obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
The vet said Mia did well and had no issues. She can be touched all over and is on schedule with all of her puppy shots.
Is sweet, loving Mia your wished for puppy?
