Original: “After spending so much time in boarding, Megan has to re-learn a few things about being an indoor pet. Fortunately, she is a smart girl who is remembering basic commands quickly and doing well with going potty outside.”
Princess Megan came to MAESSR when her Pennsylvania owner had to go into a nursing home. She spent the last year in an indoor/outdoor kennel at a boarding facility, hoping she and her owner could return to their home. She was happy to arrive at her foster home, where she gets to spend time with the two resident Springer girls. She has been well behaved, and her foster mom has yet to hear her bark!
After spending so much time in boarding, Megan has to re-learn a few things about being an indoor pet. Fortunately, she is a smart girl who is remembering basic commands quickly and doing well with going potty outside. Her foster mom keeps her on a schedule since she doesn’t seem to have a signal that she needs to go out. With a regular exercise program, she is getting stronger every day. She is a true Velcro girl who loves to be by her foster mom’s side. At night, she spends time both in bed with her foster parents, and on a fluffy dog bed on the floor.
Megan stays in a crate when her foster parents are working and has respected this arrangement. She usually gets toys with treats inside them to keep her busy while she’s contained. With good house manners, Megan doesn’t counter-surf, trash dive, or chew on inappropriate objects. She can lift the toilet lid if it’s light enough, however! She also likes to lie on the sofa. Megan also loves to take walks and does nicely on leash. She greets people in a calm and submissive way. Megan also rides well in the car.
Although she didn’t play with toys for a while, she loves the ones available at her foster home and hasn’t displayed any guarding behavior. Megan did great at the vet’s office. She did not make a peep when getting shots and a microchip. She also loves baths! Since she spent so much time in boarding, Megan would probably be happiest with a forever family where someone would be able to spend a lot of time with her. Her foster mom believes she could be weaned off her anxiety medication if she wasn’t alone all day.
