Meet Max, the English Springer Spaniel pup with a heart full of adventure and a tail that never stops wagging! His story began in Pennsylvania where he was purchased as a puppy by his first owner. Unfortunately, after three months, his owner received a promotion at work that involved lots of travel. Knowing she couldn’t leave Max crated for nine hours a day, she made the heart-wrenching decision to let him go. But don’t worry because this sweet boy landed in MAESSR’s care and now he’s thriving in a loving foster home where he’s learning all the good stuff that a puppy needs to know.
Max nailed his first trip to the vet like a total pro! He strutted in without barking at the other dogs– very impressive for a rookie. Sure, he nailed the “sit” command most of the time, but hey, who can blame a curious pup? With all those new smells and wagging tails, even the best dogs find it hard to resist a little exploration. Max is a star in the making!
This pup is a ball of curiosity and high energy. He loves his toys (especially chew toys and his ball) and spends his days playing and exploring. He’s learning the ropes of basic training and already knows how to “sit,” “give paw” for a treat, and respect the word “no” — though he’s still a leash puller (he and his foster parents are working on that!). He’s smart and eager to please, so it won’t be long before he’s walking like a pro.
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy – even an older pup like Max– and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. Max will be a good pupil!
When Max isn’t having zoomies or playing with his favorite ball, he’s the perfect office buddy. He joins his foster mom at work, where he gets 15-20 minutes of playtime to run and stretch his legs before settling in under a desk for some quiet snoozing. Then at break, he’s out for a 30-minute walk and then home for lunch where he gets to play in the fenced in yard for an hour.
His afternoon office hours are spent playing with a stuffy and snoozing. At home, he’s back outside to play ball! Max doesn’t tire out ’til mid-evening.
Max is crate trained and does great when left there for short periods of time. (He doesn’t have full run of the house when foster mom is out.) In fact, his foster family has a camera so they can watch him while they’re out — and he’s usually napping peacefully or enjoying some chill time with his favorite SiriusXM radio station, “No Shoes Radio.” He’s housetrained, too, and sleeps peacefully in his foster mom’s bedroom at night, though he sneaks onto the bed for morning snuggles and a bit of a romp.
Max loves water and could spend hours in the tub. Bath time is fun time! When his foster parents are in the shower, they sometimes find themselves with a shower buddy!
Max is a true morning pup, rising and shining at the crack of dawn (6 a.m. sharp!). He’s all about getting outside to take care of business bright and early, though he’s not a fan of the dark and likes to have his foster mom by his side to start the day. He’s got a super polite potty routine—Max knows exactly when it’s time to go, and he heads straight for the door, sitting pretty and waiting. The only time he’s had an accident inside was when Mom missed his subtle “I gotta go” hint!
Also, Max has VIP access to his very own doggy door and his fenced in yard, so he can come and go as he pleases. And when he’s out and about, foster mom likes to keep a sneaky eye on him from afar. True to his angelic nature, Max always does his potty business, and then trots right back inside like the good boy he is. No mischief here—just a well-behaved pup with a routine that would put anyone to shame!
Max is the ultimate social butterfly, flitting from wag to wiggle with other dogs like he’s hosting the neighborhood bark-a-thon! He hasn’t had the chance to charm any kids or cats yet, but if his track record with adults is anything to go by, they’ll be smitten in no time. Every grown-up he’s met has fallen head-over-heels for him, and Max, being the lovable pup he is, has soaked up the attention and loved them right back. He’s basically a four-legged ambassador of good vibes!
Max has good manners for a 9-month-old pup. No trash diving for this polite boy since the family’s trash can is under the kitchen sink. He knows the difference between his toys and human shoes (thank goodness). Evenings are his time to shine as a snuggle pro, cozied up on the couch with his mom or dad for some quality cuddle sessions.
When it comes to car rides, Max is still finding his groove. He starts out with a few “are we there yet?” whimpers but quickly settles into chill mode. One thing’s for sure: the front seat is not his vibe. He’s a backseat kind of guy, and that’s where he rides in style!
Max is a ball of pure energy wrapped in fur! This guy is built for action and would thrive in an active home where playtime, long walks, and loads of love are on the daily agenda. Whether it’s a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Max is always ready to go. And when he’s not burning off his boundless energy, he’s dishing out affection like it’s his full-time job. He’s got a heart as big as his enthusiasm, and he’s just waiting for the perfect family to share it with. Are you ready to keep up?
