Original: “A family that wants to help Max burn off all the excess energy is going to love this beautiful boy.”
Max was relinquished to MAESSR because he was displaying some unpredictable behavior and his family in Virginia had young children. They felt it would be better for everyone if Max found a home without young children.
Max is not crate trained, but he is housetrained. He’s known to counter-surf but is pretty good about getting down when told. Max rides very well in the car and seems to love going for a ride. On walks he will pull on the leash initially, but he does soon settle down for a more enjoyable walk. At bedtime Max sleeps on the floor, but he’ll sneak onto a human’s bed during the night. If bumped during the night, he might grumble about being disturbed.
Max likes to cuddle and be with his people. He LOVES to be outside and ACTIVE with his people. He likes to play fetch, but he’s not very good at bringing the ball back to continue the game. At his foster home Max has been good with the other dogs. Although he has never been with cats, he has a high prey drive and it is not recommended that Max be placed in a home with kitties. At both the vet and groomer, Max was a very good boy.
Max has anxiety that presents itself with his getting more and more amped up until he will make everyone around him crazy. He was started on medication that has brought his anxiety levels down to a much more manageable level. His new family will be required to keep him on this medication for a minimum of six months after adoption.
Handsome Max is VERY high energy and needs a family that will ensure that he gets enough exercise. Remember, a tired Springer is a good Springer! A family that wants to help Max burn off all the excess energy is going to love this beautiful boy.
