Max XXIII came into MAESSR’s care after his owners decided sweet Max deserved more than they could offer him due to their busy lifestyle. This Pennsylvania Springer loves human attention and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. In foster care he is friendly with males and females, children and adults. Max greets guests at the door with a bark, but has been friendly and has not jumped on anyone.
Max has proven to be quite a mama’s boy; focusing on his foster mom, he is a Velcro Springer through and through. Because he so craves human attention, Max has shown jealousy towards the resident dog at his foster home. Max would prefer to have all the human attention lavished on him! For that reason, he would probably do best as an only dog or with a very laid back resident dog. He met a cat at the vet’s office and did not appear interested.
His former owners said that Max will sometimes get an ear infection and his foster parents have been cleaning his ears weekly as a preventative measure. The vet also gave him a round of antibiotics to clear up a small skin infection, and Max is doing well. His coat is soft, and he is a healthy young boy.
Completely housetrained and crate trained, Max is a trustworthy boy. Outside on walks, his ears perk up and he gets excited when he hears or sees another dog. On a recent walk, Max played nicely with a new dog friend he had just met. His foster mom has used both a gentle leader on Max and a regular collar for walks and Max does well with both.
Just by looking into Max’s honest face, you can see how he is ready to adore his people. Can you give Max the love and attention he deserves? He’s waiting for you!
