Original: With only hours to spare from an underfunded, high-kill shelter in West Virginia, Max was rescued by MAESSR. After receiving medical attention and professional grooming, this boy is as beautiful outside as he is inside!
Max is very loving and loves to be loved. He plays gently with children and even lets them take his toys, bones, and food. He is also good with other dogs and cats. Max loves his walks and never pulls on a leash. His foster dad has declared him the best running partner ever! He comes when called and arrives with wagging tail to receive his favorite reward – human attention.
Perfectly house-trained, Max has been left alone for as long as ten hours without incident. Max has not found a favorite place to sleep at night; he may sleep in any one of three dog beds in the house, or in any of the human beds. He also likes the cold tile floors. Max has done some counter-surfing, but only when the temptation was too great or he was too bored. Max quickly learned that car rides usually result in fun activities and jumps at the chance to ride along. He is a good traveler.
This handsome, 55-pound boy has lots of energy and requires much exercise daily. The adage “A good Springer is a tired Springer” holds with Max. Running with his foster dad is a big help in burning up some of his energy. When left alone in the house and he is bored, Max sometimes redecorates. For instance, he may decide that a throw pillow from the family room looks better on his human foster brother’s bed, his foster dad’s slipper belongs on the guest bed, and stuffed animals belong behind the guest bedroom door. The guest bedroom has been renamed “Max’s Treasure Room.” His foster family has learned to close bedroom doors so that they can more easily find their belongings. Fortunately, he only moves his treasures; he does not chew them.
Max loves exercise and affection. His ideal forever family will provide lots of both. In return, he will be a loyal friend and even treat them to his special lip kisses, furry lip rubs without the slobber of a lick! Too cute! Max is just a wonderful dog!
