Updated 11/8/06: All the news on Max is great! He did very well with his recent surgery and was extremely happy to be going “home” when his foster mom picked him up. While Max was under for neutering, the vet also removed a cyst which turned out to be benign more good news for Max.
Max is an amazing dog. He is very well behaved, barely barks except when you leave, and loves to play with the resident Springer. His little tail wags more and more each day. He listens well to commands and loves his walks and jaunts in the field. He loves his belly rubs and, of course, his food! Max has learned to trust the new people in his life and is playing with them more and more.
Max is now ready for his “forever home.” He’d most enjoy a family that includes someone who is home a lot to give him lots of pats, belly rubs, walks, treats, and major amounts of love. He’d be good in a home with another dog or cat as long as he gets what he thinks is his “fair share” of the attention that he loves so much. As a “young at heart” senior, Max has much to give too. All he needs is to be asked into your home and heart. He’ll love you forever and be your faithful companion.
Original: Being in a home again has made Max very happy. He had lived in a boarding kennel for 2 months because his owner was no longer able to care for him. He is a very handsome boy and weighs 50 pounds. At his initial vet visit he was well behaved and found to be in good all-around health. The vet did notice one cyst on his back and will remove it at the same time he is neutered. He is also recovering from an injury to one of his dewclaws.
In his foster home Max has adjusted easily and is well behaved. He is living with a family of all adults and shows very good temperament toward each of them. He had never really been around children in his previous home. Since in foster care, he has met the children next door, ages 3 and 8. Max didn’t mind them petting him at all, but he was also willing to ignore the little people. Having lived most of his life among adults, his foster mom feels that Max will be most comfortable and happiest in an adopting family of grown-ups.
Max is housebroken, doesn’t counter surf, passes up the garbage can, and only chews on his chewies. He shows no food aggression at all. He takes treats gently and his food bowl can be removed without issue. Max knows “come”, “sit”, “paw”, “stay” and “down.” He has mastered the doggy door in his foster home and is slowly learning about settling in a crate. Since someone is home most of the time, Max now enjoys run of the house much of the time. He does notice when his foster mom leaves the house and will bark a bit but then settles down. At night he snoozes bedside on his own pillow in his foster mom’s room.
His activity level is pretty mellow. Max will lay down and sleep while you watch TV. He will play tug-of-war at times and will play with the other Springer in his foster home. He will sniff at the resident cats and walk away. Good boy!! He walks fine on a leash and loves to go for outings. He is very inquisitive and will listen to any noises he hears and tries to check them out. When one is talking to Max, he appears to be all ears and looks as if he is asking you a question.
Max is a good companion, very well behaved, an excellent walking partner and will make a wonderful addition to a Springer-loving home. He has such a spring in his own step and can put one in yours when you’re on the other end of his leash!
