Update 12/23/08: Marvin’s minor ear infection is history now. He is all up-to-snuff health wise and blessed with an adoption pending status. His big wish is a stocking full of bones in his new home, but he’ll be waiting for that until right in the beginning of the year when his adoption happens.
News on him? Other than making friends with whomever he meets, learning cool tricks from his foster-brother friends and the resident cats and being a general good soul not much. Marvin is a pleasure to have in his foster family’s mix and they will miss him. His pet sitter also adores him and will probably spoil him more than his foster family while they are away on vacation. From Marvin to all……… wishing everyone happy holidays. May your New Year be as eagerly anticipated as his!!!!
Original: Marvin is an affectionate and playful boy who is settling into his foster home nicely. His original owner had him since he was a puppy, but sadly had to relinquish him due to an upcoming move from Pennsylvania out of the continental United States.
Marvin enjoys playing with his canine foster brothers and shows little interest in the two resident housecats. Being outdoors interests him greatly and he pulls on the leash initially during walks. To work on this, his foster parents have replaced his collar with a harness that gives them more control. Marvin loves to exercise and play ball in the yard. He has the longest legs which make him the fastest Springer his foster family has ever seen, like the wind! He may be eight years old, but he moves like a youngster.
One comical aspect of Marvin’s is his “smile.” When he feels he’s being scolded, he works his face into a snarl-like grimace, baring his teeth and all. His foster family has come to realize this is a gesture of atonement, as he immediately follows this look by coming to the speaker for some love and forgiveness. It’s such an odd thing that they find themselves trying to recreate it, but they don’t want him to think they are always yelling at him!
This boy has very nice house manners. He is housetrained and he doesn’t trash pick, counter surf, beg, dig, chew, or bark excessively. He does well with run of the house while his foster parents are away, but he’s in the company of the resident dogs. He has never been crated and there is no necessity for that. Riding in the car brings on a lot of anxiety for Marvin. His owner said that Marvin really only rode in the car to go to the vet, so his foster parents are taking him on plenty of fun rides. That’s easy to do with Marvin; he’s a lot of fun to be with!
Do you have room for this charmer in your family and in your heart?
