Update 01/03/12:
Posie recently changed foster homes so she could get more one-on-one attention and more exposure to people. Her new foster mom finds this little Springer want-to-be a delight to have around. Posie’s house manners continue to be perfect and she is adjusting well to her new living situation.
Although Posie loves to be cuddled, she does not need to be with her humans every minute. She enjoys being outdoors and will spend time out in the yard alone, just checking out everything going on around her. A fenced yard is a must for this little darling, as she will not go potty while on a leash. A doggie door would be a plus.
Posie is becoming more comfortable with meeting strangers. However, she is frightened of small children and will do best in a family with older or no children. She will look to the other dogs in the home for comfort when she becomes unsure, so it would be beneficial if she had a companion, preferably one that would play with her. Although she gets along with a range of other dogs, she has a preference for the neutered males.
This little girl needs her own person to love and bond with as she explores the world. Why not pick this pretty little Posie?
Original:
Mariposa is a Spanish water dog who came to MAESSR because her Maryland family, who are friends of MAESSR, were having financial difficulties. MAESSR volunteers promised to find this sweet girl a new home. Her name means butterfly in Spanish and like her namesake, she is a shy little beauty.
Posie, as she is called in her foster home, is a little shy when first meeting new people. She does adjust and will need a forever family willing to work with her on this issue. Posie has good house manners, but will get on furniture. Her favorite place to sleep at night is with her head on the pillow between her foster parents! She loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and is beginning to play with toys. Posie walks well on a leash and like to ride in the car.
Posie has a condition called dry eye in both of her eyes and this condition requires her to receive medicated drops daily. This good girl is very cooperative with this daily routine.
If you’ve ever wanted to branch out from Springers and try living with a Spanish water dog, this is your opportunity!
