Updated 10/3/06: Marie continues to do well in her foster home. She is growing like a weed and her personality is really starting to show. Miss Marie is full of herself! She loves to wrestle with the boys and will give as good as she gets. This girl is feisty and definitely a tomboy.
This is one very birdie gal too. Whenever her foster dad works the other dogs on birds, Marie goes nuts! She barks the whole time they are practicing because she wants so badly to share that fun too. One time her foster dad gave her a bird after practice. Marie immediately started to tear it to shreds and it was removed from her jaws just in time.
Marie is becoming quite vocal. She growls and barks during play. She has started to tell her foster mother off at dinner time, maybe foster mom just isn’t quick enough to suit this impatient youngster. Marie hasn’t figured out how to woo-hoo yet, so instead she lets out a cross between a growl, a bark, and a yodel. It’s really quite funny and distinctive.
There is progress on house breaking. Marie is reliable in her crate for up to seven hours. She is doing better when loose in the house, as long as there are frequent reminders to take potty breaks when she is playing. More on Marie as she grows up.
Original: Marie is all Springer puppy. She’s a sweetheart who has already convinced her foster family that she is one smart cookie. As one would expect, she is also full of herself, full of energy, and needs regular exercise to unleash daily. Marie could be a poster girl for the adage “A tired Springer is a good Springer!” She’s also just pretty enough to be a poster girl with her gorgeous tricolor markings and beautiful face.
Play, play, play! is what life is all about for a 6-month-old Springer and Marie loves every minute of it. She growls like a bear when she gets wound up but still has a puppy bark. Between play sessions she spends time in a crate and is reliable there for up to six hours. When loose indoors she still needs a watchful eye until her house training becomes a bit more reliable. She is learning her name and “sit”.
This youngster and her brother were taken from a business in Pennsylvania that was no longer breeding dogs. Had a Good Samaritan not intervened at the time, it is likely Marie would have been put to sleep. The initial rescuer then surrendered both pups to MAESSR.
As Marie continues to settle into her foster home, her personality will round out. Check back for an update soon.
