On rare occasions, MAESSR is blessed with an entire litter of puppies! After ceasing his kennel operation, a breeder from Pennsylvania reached out to MAESSR and Maisy along with six adorable furball siblings were born in MAESSR’s care in Virginia. Their mom is Bambi 2 and their dad is Pooh Bear who was adopted earlier this fall.
This beautiful tri-colored Springer is a combination of a big snuggler and a girl who is eager to play. At first, she was a little more hesitant to try new things, like going down the stairs and encountering new situations. She seems to have conquered that hesitancy and jumps right in with all of the other resident and foster puppies and dogs.
Maisy knows her name and “comes” when called. She has started to run to her crate when it is time to eat. She will also sit quietly in front of her foster mom and work for a treat. She is housetrained in her crate and will go all night (about 9 hours) without crying to get out and go potty. She knows the command “go potty” and has even started to go outside on her own when it’s time. When it’s time for a ride in the car, Maisy is crated along with Gus and is content once she gets some initial crying out of the way.
A very playful pup, Maisy loves to play with the resident 2 year old border collie. She will lie on her person’s lap at the end of long day of fun and play and then snooze until it’s time to go to bed in her crate. Or, she may choose to chew on a toy while reclining in a friendly lap. In her puppy cuteness, she likes to burrow her head behind a pillow on the sofa while she’s resting on a lap. Yes…Maisy and Gus are allowed on the furniture! She is a very laid back girl and loves just about everyone she meets.
Please note that MAESSR will require the adoptive family to take this love through a series of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience. MAESSR believes the decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. Maisy will be a star pupil!
After her foster family’s human children are back at school after vacation, Maisy’s foster mom is going to work with her and Gus on being separated from each other for gradually increased periods of time. She hopes that this will give both pups some experience being apart before they go to their forever homes, making their eventual separation less difficult.
Maisy would do best in a home where she has another dog to play with or with a family that has someone home full time and able to give her lots of outdoor time and exercise. She is thriving in that environment where she has access to a yard and lots of outdoor play time. She will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family!
