Original: “She is a playful, active, curious, family dog who is very social.”
Maisy’s New Jersey owners decided to relinquish her to MAESSR because they realized they were not meeting her needs. Their children were grown and, with just the two of them in the house, they could not give Maisy the time, exercise, and attention that she deserved. So, she is now a MAESSR girl!
Her foster parents have found Maisy to be a playful, active, curious, family dog who is very social! She has been a wonderful house guest with excellent house manners. Completely housetrained, she will go to the door and ring the bells when she has to go out. Initially she wanted to get on the furniture, but with a treat and quiet request, she immediately gets off. After the first few days, she seems to have lost interest in the furniture.
Previous owners kept Maisy crated at night but with run of the house during the day. However, her foster parents opted not to crate her and she sleeps contentedly all night on her blanket in the bedroom with other two dogs. Good girl, Maisy!
This smart little pup knows “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “leave it” and is eager to please. Her former owners walked her with a gentle leader and foster mom has continued with that. She is great on a walk. Walking side-by-side with the resident male dog on a daily outing, she looks forward to spotting a bunny. On her walks she has regularly met children and other strangers and shows no sign of anxiety or aggression. She also rides well in the car and will jump in if a door is left open.
Maisy gets along fine with the two resident Springers as long as there are no toys available. The resident male dog does not share his toys very well, so that led to an argument. Her foster parents are working to modify the resident dog’s behavior. Currently toys are only allowed with supervision. All of the dogs are fed at the same time but in adjoining rooms and with supervision. Maisy is quite a good eater and will gobble down her food and then look around for more.
This is a typical Velcro Springer. Maisy is always where her people are. She plays with the other dogs, but always keeping an eye on where her foster parents are.
