When a Pennsylvania animal shelter with which MAESSR has mutual volunteers got in a litter of four English Springer Spaniel/English Shepherd mix puppies, MAESSR was asked for help in placing them as their shelter was really full and this would allow space for another needy dog or two from a kill shelter. At the shelter these adorable brothers that look more like field bred Springers would sleep in a pile on top of each other in their kennel. Now, Magic and his littermates, Simon, Casper, and Spooky, have been moved to two foster homes where they continue to thrive.
Just like his name suggests, Magic will magically appear in your lap from nowhere! This is a lovable little boy who just loves to be with his people. Very smart, he is doing extremely well with his housetraining. Magic knows to go to the door when he needs to go outside and do his duties. If he needs to get his foster mom’s attention, he will whimper. Magic also knows to use his manners and sit while waiting for his food bowl and then he goes inside his crate to eat. What a good boy!
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption. Eager to please, Magic will be a good pupil.
Magic sleeps in his crate at night and is good for at least six hours without any accidents which is really good for a puppy his age. He is also very good in the car so long as he is harnessed. This is the best way for him to travel as he appears to get car sick if crated. When he went to the vet’s office, he was a very good boy and he enjoyed the attention he got from everyone! It’s impossible to not fall in love with Magic!
Although Magic gets along well with the resident dogs, he is a bit afraid of their big barks. This little boy loves to chase the resident cats to play with them, but he does not attempt to hurt them. Magic loves all people and is a budding Velcro boy.
His foster mom is impressed with how athletic this little guy is. He can climb like a champ and “magically” disappear! He is going to need to be taught that gates and fences are meant to keep him inside of wherever he is and that they are not obstacles to be climbed! This is something that obedience classes and training consistency will definitely be helpful in.
This little guy is going to need a home that is very patient and structured as this is the best thing for puppies and their humans to be happy together.
