Update 11/28/12:
When Miss Maggie’s siblings traveled east to adopting homes, she joined in the road trip to meet a new foster family. Maggie laid right down very contentedly and rode peacefully on the long car ride. Since she has moved to her new home, Maggie has begun working on house training. She is making great strides and, if you watch, she gives subtle hints that she wants to go out. Way to go, Maggie!! She is now able to be crated overnight with little fanfare. She lets out a bark to tell you that she needs to go out and has not soiled her crate since arriving at her new home.
Maggie loves to play with stuffed toys. She has also had a successful play date with two adult springers. Initially she is afraid of unknown dogs and lets out a small growl. This is fear and not aggression. After a few minutes she warms up to other dogs and is off and running, literally and figuratively.
While on walks Maggie gets distracted easily so her leash manners are being worked on. She is learning more each and every day. When strangers come into the house Maggie immediately runs right up to them for some attention. However, if she meets someone on the street, Maggie is a little timid at first. At this time she hasn’t met small children or cats. Maggie has resided with an elderly foster dog with no problems. Maggie could be found regularly curled up sleeping with the senior.
Maggie has the sweetest disposition and loves to snuggle with her foster parents. Overall, she is a darling puppy who is the perfect mix of zany and cuddly. She’d love to have the gift of adoption before the coming holidays. Wouldn’t she look precious sporting a little red collar and a glitzy sweater for holiday gatherings with her very own family!?!?!
Original:
When a box of three puppies was found at the stairs of a West Virginia church, these ten week old, abandoned babies were first taken to a shelter where the staff quickly contacted MAESSR to foster them and find wonderful homes for them. Now Maggie, Molly, and Missy are MAESSR girls!
These little bundles of puppy sweetness are doing well in foster care. They are not quite housetrained, but their foster mom is working on this with them. When she is out of the house, the trio happily piles into the crate together to sleep and play. Distinct personalities are surfacing to the delight of their foster mom.
Maggie appears to find joy wherever she is! She will play happily with her sisters or find things to entertain herself. She seems to have a go with the flow attitude. Maggie will come if called and enjoys human attention but also shows independence. With a slightly mischievous side, she will snatch items from around the house and take them to her crate! Although Maggie engages in scuffles occasionally, she is not an instigator like her sister Molly, nor a drama queen like Missy. Maggie is a very laid back girl who loves back scratches.
If you are thinking of adopting Maggie or one of her sisters, please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
Make Maggie your own source of puppy breath and kisses. Begin a lifetime of love with her!
