Original: Maggie’s owner is surrendering her because she does not have enough time to devote to her. Maggie spends most of her day in a crate and is not getting much attention. She is great with children, other dogs and cats. She does have a tendency to eat socks, and had to have one removed from her intestine last summer after she swallowed it and caused an obstruction. She is a mild mannered girl, but needs to be taught to release objects she is playing with. She is a little fuzzy, and perhaps a little plump. Maggie would really benefit from some exercise and someone who has lots of time and love to spare. Maggie is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and housebroken.
UPDATE: Maggie was adopted July 3, 1999, by a family who had lost their beloved older Springer. Maggie will be going to the lake to go swimming, playing with the neighbors’ children and running errands with her dad.
UPDATE: It was one year ago this past 3 July that we adopted our now three year female springer spaniel. To say we are pleased with her is an understatement. We don’t know what we would do without her. We want to thank MAESSR for finding her and letting us adopt her. I raised springers many years ago and have had four of my own raised from pups and are very familiar with the breed. We had never gone this way before and were more than a little hesitant. We lost our older springer to lymphoma a little over a year ago and had decided not to have any more dogs as the hurt was tremendous. After a few months the lack of a four legged companion was also a hurt. We tried to obtain another pup, but were not having any luck when we found out by accident about MAESSR. As I said we were quite hesitant, but after looking at the pictures and descriptions and why they were up for adoption we decided to take a look and see what was available. Couldn’t do any harm. It turned out to be the best thing we could have done.
Sometimes we sit and watch her and wonder why we have her. Why would anyone give up this amazing creature? She breezed through her obedience training and is such a joy to us. Millie as we now call her (she was Maggie II) is a typical young springer. She is eager to please, has unspent energy to release, loves to swim, ride in the car and play with the neighbor’s children. She thrives on the love, attention and the touch of people. She loves the physical contact of people. The love we give her is return threefold. It is pure pleasure to have this high energy loveable animal in our home as a member of our family. We can never thank Monica and MAESSR enough for letting us have her. Thank you all for doing such a wonderful job caring for these springer spaniels. God bless.
