Original: Maggie came into MAESSR’s care from a shelter where she had been surrendered by her family. She was in poor physical condition and the victim of multiple, serious health issues which were identified during the first week in her foster home. Treatment began for the top priority problems immediately but she did not respond well to strong drug therapy. In addition, the accompanying pain could not be brought under control and Maggie was suffering as her condition actually worsened. After a long and anguishing 10 days of trying to save her, it was clear to her vet and those giving and guiding care that a release from the struggle would be the most humane choice for Maggie.
