Original: “He likes to be with his people; the humans are what matter the most to Mack.”
Mack came to MAESSR because of health issues within his Virginia family. It was not felt that Mack was in the right spot for him to be his best, so he is looking for a forever home that would be a better fit.
Currently on thyroid meds for low thyroid levels, Mack will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life. He also is on anxiety medication and his foster family has been working to wean him off those meds. His new family will be required to keep him on the anxiety medication for 60 days after adoption.
Good with people, Mack does alert bark but is fine when they come into the house. He likes to be with his people; the humans are what matter the most to Mack. He is walked twice a week by a local teenager who walks him with her dog. There have been no problems reported although he will bark at other dogs on his walks. He likes his walks and pulls a bit on leash. Reportedly Mack had never walked at his former home, so he’s just learning the joys of this experience. The previous owner had a few instances where friends brought their dogs over and Mack growled at the other dogs when they went over to the female owner. Mack’s former owner reported that he watches TV and barks at dogs on TV. He actually knows commercials that have dogs in them and will run into the room when he hears those commercials come on! Mack has never had experience with cats.
Good in the car, Mack also is a good boy at the vet and groomer, having no problems being touched all over. He is generally well-behaved, with no inappropriate chewing or digging. He has a fenced back yard and Mack doesn’t leave the yard even if the gate is open. In the house he has complete freedom. He is housetrained and sleeps on the floor or in the hallway. He is never crated. Mack does hang around the table while people are eating, enticed by the good aromas up there. He knows “sit” and is polite taking treats.
If you are looking for a new best friend who loves people and is a solid citizen in the house, Mack just might be a great addition to your family.
