Update 03/04/12:
Lucy returned to MAESSR due to some behavioral issues that her adopting family was unable to overcome. In the hands of a most capable foster family, work with her and continuing evaluation began. Initially she showed promise of progress, but, sadly, as her complete temperament emerged, it became clear that she would not be suitable for adoption.
Update 02/13/12:
Lucy came back to MAESSR, at the first of the year, due to some inappropriate behavior she had developed when her family would try to leave the house. Lucy would bark and growl and bounce against the door in an effort to get her family to not leave. The family worked on this problem with her but was worried about the young children in their home, so they returned her.
Once again Lucy walked back into her foster home like she had never left. She is such a funny girl. Her foster parents call her “Woooo Woooo Lucy Loo.” Lucy has a great “woo woo” that she uses frequently to let her foster family knew she wants something or that she is happy. Lucy has wonderful house manners and likes to nap on the sofa. At night she sleeps in the bed with her foster parents……….lucky girl! Lucy has done very well with the other dogs in her foster home and seems to enjoy their company. She likes to go for walks and car rides. Lucy walks fairly well on the leash.
Lucy’s foster family has worked with her on several different things and has not experienced the behaviors she was displaying in her adoptive home. Lucy will “woo woo” at them when they leave for work or come home but has not been inappropriate in any way.
Lucy is an expressive gal who treasures the people in her life and delights in living close to them. For her part, she keeps people smiling. If you are ready to be welcomed home in true Springer fashion, will share the couch for cuddle time in the evenings, and would love an accomplished “bed warmer” (no batteries required), please ask to meet this lovely Lucy!!!
Update 08/27/10:
Lucy returned to MAESSR’s care when the young family who adopted her felt they could no longer care for her needs. This sweetheart walked back into her original foster home as if she had never left, jumped onto the sofa in her usual spot, and resumed life as normal.
Due to her lack of socialization early on, Lucy has been started on an inexpensive anxiety medication which allows her to relax enough to enjoy life. Her foster mom has already seen improvement on car rides. While Lucy originally would drool a lot when in the car, now she just sits back and enjoys the ride. This beautiful girl is going to SHINE in the right home. Could that home be yours?
Original:
When Lucy’s Pennsylvania family had some major medical issues, they did not have time to give her any walks or exercise. This lead to her misbehaving and she was crated as a punishment. Knowing this was not a good situation for Lucy, her family relinquished her to MAESSR.
Lucy is very fit and healthy with the exception of occasional bladder infections. Since she had a very bad reaction to her last rabies vaccine, she should be monitored carefully when getting her next one.
This pretty girl is housetrained and has had basic obedience training. In her excitement to greet people, Lucy will jump on them and when her people are eating, she does beg for food. In the kitchen, she does not counter-surf, though. Lucy is good at the groomer and she loves riding in the car.
Lucy loves to play with other dogs and loves any sort of outdoor game. Playing Frisbee is one of her favorite activities and if her people need to be reminded to play with her, she will bark at them for attention. Chasing cats is another pastime, so there should not be any kitties in her forever home.
All Lucy needs is a forever home! Open yours to this sweetheart!
