Original: Lucy was in a shelter in New Jersey and MAESSR was contacted to help find her a permanent home. MAESSR volunteers had been told she was a large girl, but nothing prepared them for just how large. Perhaps the shelter staff’s nickname of “Moo-Moo” should have been a clue.
As a stray, this plump pup was extremely matted and stinky when she came out of the shelter. Two loyal MAESSR volunteers gave her a bath and shaved her down. Lucy was very thankful to be back in a house and smelling better! It did not matter what these two volunteers did to Lucy, she just loved being touched!
Lucy has been to the vet and weighs in at 79 pounds. She needs to lose at least 25 pounds. Her foster mom believes she has a low thyroid level and blood work has been sent out to check. Lucy does have some hip dysplasia and will need to be on a glucosamine supplement. The weight is making the hips hurt more, so every effort is being made to help her lose weight.
Housetrained and crate trained, Lucy has perfect house manners. Since she behaves so nicely, Lucy does not need to be crated when her family is at work; she has free run of the house with no problems. Lucy loves her foster family, especially when they give her belly rubs! She adores playing with toys and going for a ride in the car.
This sweet, gentle girl is going to make a BIG impression in someone’s heart!
