Lucky and his kennel mate Lexxie are victims of the economic downturn. Their owner was forced to relinquish them because of an impending foreclosure on their home in Virginia. MAESSR came to the rescue and will find them loving forever homes.
Lucky is one sweet dog who is content to follow you wherever you go! He has adjusted well to living with four other Springers; however at times, he does like to go off by himself. It is unknown how Lucky will do with cats.
Although he is housetrained, Lucky did mark when he first came to his foster home. This seems to have subsided and is chalked up to changes in his environment. Lucky hates being crated and digs and scratches to get out. He currently has free run of the house when his foster mom is home and free run of the downstairs when she is at work. Lucky is a determined counter-surfer, but a simple correction seems to stop this behavior.
When it comes to commands, Lucky does listen to the basics and will sit, give paw, and stay. He understands and responds to “no,” but acts fearful to a stern “come” and will run the other way. His foster mom is working on this. Lucky pulls a little bit on the leash when taking walks but will stop when corrected.
Lucky has been to the groomer and enjoyed getting a bath and getting a quick trim. He loves to ride in the car and seems to settle down easily, looking out the window. Lucky sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom and in the evening loves to sit in front of his foster mom waiting for a back rub. He will return the favor with tons of kisses!
Do you have room in your home for this Lucky boy?
