Update 5/21/08:
Lucky continues to be an overgrown Springer puppy. Oh, to have his energy!
He is still a major wiggle-butt and is still working on learning basic manners. Lucky is not a counter-surfer or garbage picker, so he’s great to have in the house or kitchen. He still tends to get mouthy, especially if he gets excited. And, like a typical pup, Lucky gets excited easily.
Lucky is doing much better with his leash manners and respects the prong collar. He will go into the crate for a treat and settles right down.
One look into Lucky’s eyes and you just want to hug him to pieces – wiggles and all. One look into your eyes and Lucky will have a new reason to wiggle. He’ll make a wonderful dog for an active family and would love being “one of the kids.” If you’re looking for a happy, trainable, and athletic partner to try dog agility with, Lucky would love trying that too! He’s ready – are you?
Original:
Lucky was turned over to MAESSR when his family unfortunately lost their home. Lucky is a typical young springer, full of energy and very playful. Lucky knows some commands, and will quickly run through his repertoire for a treat. Lucky is initially very timid, but warms up very quickly with attention. He loves being with his people.
Lucky is housebroken and crate-trained. He wants to be up on furniture and he loves to ride in the car. Lucky pulls on the leash, but respects a prong collar. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home and enjoys the resident ten-year-old boy. He previously lived with children eight and ten years old.
Lucky was an angel at the vet’s, although he is a major wiggle worm. Baby gates do not confine Lucky, as he can clear a standard baby-gate from a standstill without touching it. But, he respects the four-foot fence at his foster home. Lucky is very athletic and would probably make a great agility dog.
More on Lucky as he settles into his foster home.
