When Louie’s Virginia owner went off to graduate school and her parents were working long hours including extended travel, they decided this sociable gentleman would be better off having a home where someone was around much of the time. With excellent manners, loving about everyone he meets, and being totally handsome, one couldn’t ask for a much better dog than Louie.
Louie is crate trained, good on leash (okay he does the Springer sniffing cross pattern), lovely on car rides and quite the handsome guy. If a toy has a squeaker, he’s just openly delighted. If a total stranger wants to pet him, he’ll lean against their leg while they do it. He’s crated at night only because he does it quietly. He’ll ignore dogs who say “go away,” but play if they want. He shows absolutely no aggression at all towards humans with food, toys, collar grabbing, or anything
Louie knows “sit,” “down,” “go in your house (crate)”, “do your business,” and probably other commands the foster home hasn’t discovered. In the car, he’ll “stay in the back” on command or sit quietly in the passenger seat and look around. He likes walks and LOVES to swim in creeks, rivers or lakes.
This guy’s sins include not being willing to share his dining area; he’s crated for breakfast and dinner. He likes to play keep-away with treasured toys and gives an occasional grumble if the other dog is too insistent. He’s learning that grumbling means that the toy goes atop the fridge, and is learning to pout while staring up at it.

When the horse started to graze, Louie picked at nearby grass and both seemed amused when the foster mom laughed openly. Monkey see, monkey do?
This fellow is well behaved and really loves his humans. He took a little while to warm up to his foster brother, an outgoing “can I bother you by bothering you” sort of male, so he might do well as an only dog (who needs to share attention?) or with females.
Louie, Louie—what a wonderful addition he will make to any home! He loves people, children, horses, water, cars—what more can one ask?
