Original: “Lola is making good progress with house training, having only one accident to date.”
Lola became a MAESSR girl when her breeder/owner from Virginia passed away and specified that she wanted her kennel dogs placed by MAESSR.
Lola is making good progress with house training, having only one accident to date. Her foster parents watch her closely and try to take her out frequently. She is learning to signal when she needs to go out by circling and going to laundry room door.
She needs encouragement to get in the crate but once in there she is quiet. The crate only had to be used for three days and then she had the run of the kitchen, den and sunroom. Such a good girl! When her foster parents go out, she stays in the same area and likes to be near the resident female Springer. At night Lola sleeps near her parents’ bed. The master bedroom is blocked off so she won’t go wandering, but her foster mom is sure Lola would stay wherever she is. Have we mentioned that Lola is a Velcro Springer?
.
For a former kennel dog, Lola has fairly good house manners. She does not beg for food from the table, does not get into the garbage can and only attempted to put her paws on the counter early on; her foster mom corrected her, and she has not attempted to do any counter-surfing. Lola does not get onto the furniture and does not chew, either.
Lola has only been walked on foster home’s property which is large—over an acre! Her foster mom did not want to expose her to other dogs until she was spayed. Now that that has been accomplished, Lola’s world will expand further. When walked, Lola tends to circle while on the leash but does not pull. This bad habit will improve once she receives more training.
Very timid about meeting people coming to the home, Lola does warm up gradually. She doesn’t like to get into the car, but once in the crate there, she rides very well.
Not familiar with toys yet, Lola has only picked up one toy but does not play too much. She is best friends with the resident Springer, and they get along very well. Lola does not guard food. She is fed in the kitchen and her canine friend is fed in the laundry room.
Although she has not been to the groomer yet, Lola is very good with the vet and the technicians. The techs cleaned her ears, trimmed her nails, and they said she was very good.
Sweet Lola wants a forever home where she will receive lots of love, attention, and exercise! Having another dog would be nice, too. This Velcro girl wants to be close to her forever parents forever!
