Updated 7/2/06: Logan had his last heartworm treatment on Friday. Now he can be neutered and will be ready for his forever family after that. When he came into foster care, he was “shaved” down to rid him of an extremely sunburned and matted coat. His hair is now coming back in a beautiful deep liver and the boy is getting more handsome by the day!
Logan’s very sweet and loving temperament has continued to make him an easy dog to foster. Work has continued on his house manners and he has made great progress. He is still not 100% reliable in the housetraining department but he’s getting close. Logan’s foster mom strongly suggests that Logan and his adopting family attend obedience class as a method of bonding and also to further show him the correct way to act. Logan is one loving boy and deserves a family who can give him back every bit of love he has to share.
Original: Logan is a very sweet boy who has had a poor start to his life. He was found as a stray and taken to a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. An all-breed rescue group pulled him and turned him over to MAESSR. It was determined that Logan has heartworms, so he is currently going through treatment to get rid of them. It does not appear that he is in an advanced stage, so his recovery should be quick. He had the first heartworm treatment on June 2nd and will have the next treatment in 4 weeks. He will be neutered about 2 weeks after that. All of his other vet work was good.
This boy had NOT been an inside dog in his prior life, so he is taking advantage of this recuperation time to learn what manners are expected when you live in a home. He currently will counter surf and trash pick but is learning that such activities are not acceptable. He will pull on a leash and would benefit greatly from an obedience course. Logan has quickly accepted his crate as a great place to sleep and chill out.
Recently Logan got to play with the 5-year-old grandson at his foster home. He loved it and thought kids are the best. Watch for further updates on this sweetie as his treatment and socialization continue.
