Lincoln was sprung from a New Jersey shelter by an all-breed rescue group who called MAESSR for assistance in finding him a forever home.
When he arrived in his foster home, Lincoln was fairly matted and needed a bath, but he remained patient and sweet during the whole grooming process. He is a very loving boy to all the people he meets and he bonds quickly to his people. Lincoln craves attention and he loves to be with his people.
Although he has been around a number of dogs since coming to MAESSR, he seems concerned about their presence and grumbles to let them know to stay away. He would do better as an only dog with opportunities to slowly increase his socialization with other dogs. He will often appear to act as if he wants to play with other dogs but seems unsure how to play. There is no trouble with Lincoln and the resident Springer at mealtime. He eats well and does not show any food aggression.
This sweetheart is a very happy, good boy who wants to please his people. Lincoln’s knowledge of commands seems to be limited to “sit” and “come,” so he would benefit from additional training. He pulls some on a lead, rides great in a car, and except for some accidents early on, he seems to be housetrained. Also, he will go into his crate well and stays quietly.
Lincoln is a sweet boy who will return years of affection to you. Honestly!
