Original: “And, typical Springer, she likes to go swimming—summer fun for Lily!”
Lily 14 was given to her Maryland family by an acquaintance who no longer wanted her. Shortly after that adoption, she, who had no history of aggression, became “growly” with the wife when asked to do something Lily thought she would rather not do. She also voiced her displeasure when “cornered” by the husband. The difficult decision was made to ask MAESSR to find her a more appropriate home.
Lily is crate trained and housetrained; she has wonderful house manners—she doesn’t beg for food or counter-surf–so a crate is not needed for her. She is an alert barker and does jump on people in greeting. This fairly high energy young lady can be hard to redirect when excited. She thinks furniture is a place to be comfortable and does sleep in bed with her foster parents.
This beautiful tri-colored girl did have some obedience training as a pup and knows “sit,” “stay,” and “paw.” She rides well in the car and was very well behaved at the vets and groomers. She does like to play tug and will fetch. She will bring a toy to her people to play tug and play growl. And, typical Springer, she likes to go swimming—summer fun for Lily!
Lily has some anxiety and her previous owner started her on a medication to help with the anxiety. Her foster mom added an inexpensive supplement and the results have been wonderful. Lily’s adoptive home will be required to keep her on the medication and supplement for a minimum of six months with a STRONG recommendation to just make these medications part of her life.
All who have met this charmer would like to take her home with them. She likes to play, swim, be with her people and enjoys the company of other dogs. She’d probably like to run through the piles of fall leaves also and jump through the snow. What fun this young lady will be for her those in her forever home.
