Lilly’s family experienced some changes that prevented them from being able to keep her. They just had a baby and had to move in with parents. They were taking care of the baby and an elderly grandmother. Lilly was just not getting the care she needed so her family thought it would be best if MAESSR found her a new home.
Lilly is a great young Springer with a wonderful temperament. She is housetrained and also does well in a crate where she stays when her foster parents are at work. Lilly has very good house manners. She does not counter-surf, nor does she get into the trash. Since the resident dogs get up on the furniture, Lilly does also. She shares the canine privilege of sleeping on the bed with her foster parents; however, most of the time she gets off the bed in the night and sleeps underneath the bed.
At mealtime, Lilly likes to beg for table scraps. When her foster family comes home or visitors come, Libby gets excited and occasionally jumps up. She stops when she is told, down or no. She is really a good listener and pays attention when her people speak to her. She knows her name, responds well to come and to sit, and even can give paw. On her daily outings along a near-by walking path, Lilly could stand a bit of a refresher course on leash walking. Riding in the car is something that Lilly does not like. Showing her anxiety, she will drool a lot. Her foster family has trying to take her on short car rides to fun places so that she will have a more positive reaction to going for a ride.
Lilly really likes the resident dogs in her foster family, especially the other female Springer. Lilly will initiate play and enjoys play fighting with her. She is not really interested in toys, but will chew on rawhide bones. Lilly is not food or object possessive with either dogs or people. Her foster family can take anything from her mouth without any protest from Lilly. Lilly also is totally amenable when she is being groomed. She will let you do anything you need to do to her.
Lilly was good at the vet’s office too where she was pronounced to be a very healthy dog. The only things the vet wants to monitor on Lilly are some teeth that she may have damaged in a chewing incident in her previous home. She was being cared for by neighbors for a weekend and they crated her within a locked bathroom for an entire day. She must have panicked, gotten out of her crate, and began chewing on the interior of the bathroom, thus damaging some of her teeth. In her foster home, her crate is placed in an open area where she can see the resident dogs and she has had no problems.
Lilly is a very sweet, loving dog who loves when you pay attention to her. How about picking this Lilly to join your family?
