Original: “To get his human’s attention Liberty will back into his target to receive some love.”Liberty lived with his original owner until September 2016 when the husband died and Liberty frequently was left alone. Subsequently his owner lost her home and could not take him with her. A friend took Liberty in, but he did not get along well with the other dogs in the home. MAESSR was contacted to help this Pennsylvanian find a new home. Needless to say, Liberty has experienced a lot of change in just a few months.
While his most recent owner did not know if Liberty has had any previous training, he knows “sit” and “down.” This good boy is housetrained and does not chew inappropriately, dig, jump a fence, urinate submissively, beg for food, or jump on people. If given the opportunity, he will take the “liberty” of counter-surfing. (Well, if you’re going to leave it out…)
Liberty loves being with his people and will bark when they leave. When left alone he was kept in the foyer and gated into another room when the other dogs were with the family. He prefers human company when outside. He has not been crated and it isn’t known whether Liberty was ever crate trained. At night he would usually sleep in the owner’s son’s bedroom or on the son’s bed.
On walks Liberty will tug on the leash when excited; he’s a little hyperactive in the car and likes to look out the window during the ride. While he will chase a thrown toy, Liberty isn’t one to return it.
To get his human’s attention Liberty will back into his target to receive some love. This boy, in typical Springer fashion, thrives on having his people near. Liberty is one very sweet boy that’s looking for stability in his life and a special family to call his own.
