Update 08/01/10:
Little Libby has returned to MAESSR through no fault of her own. Since returning she has been receiving her thyroid meds regularly, is being treated for a UTI and is again the sweet girl her original foster family knew and loved. Her house manners are excellent as always and this girl is as spry as a five-year-old.
Libby gets along with all the dogs in the house and she would play with the cats, but they don’t find her cute. She doesn’t get up on the furniture or do any of those nasty things like trash diving or counter-surfing although, if something really good is on the counter, she will sit quietly and take in the smells.
This loving, barely-senior citizen has resettled into her foster home with no problems at all. She lets someone know when she needs to go out and sleeps through the night beside her foster mom’s bed. She is on the vocal side. Libby is very good at letting her family know what she wants and when she is unhappy. She also greets you at the door with the typical Springer “woo woo woo.” Oh, so nice to hear!!
Libby is fine being left for hours and has the run of the house day and night. She especially seems to like the company of other dogs and can be found lying back to back with another foster when things settle down in the evening. She loves to travel and is good no matter where she goes.
This sweet girl would love to have a family of her own where she gets the love and attention she deserves at her age. To all those young seniors out there who have had dogs as companions all your lives, ask about meeting Libby. She will match your pace and zest for life!
Original:
Libby had lived with her Virginia family since she was a puppy. During the last year, one of the children she lived with became seriously ill. The family was spending large amounts of time caring for the child and taking him to another state for treatments. Libby did not adjust well to all these changes and destroyed a couple of things. The family felt that they could not provide what Libby needed at this time, so she came to MAESSR.
Libby has done extremely well in her foster home. This sweet senior loves the resident dogs and especially people of all ages. When her foster family is gone for the day, Libby has had no problems even when left for long periods of time. Her foster mom believes her previous unacceptable behavior was a result of the upheaval in the family home.
This is one extremely sweet girl. Libby LOVES to walk and behaves very well on a leash. Her next favorite activity is going for a ride in the car. She is always up for a road trip! Libby does not counter-surf and has shown perfect manners in her foster home.
Libby is on an inexpensive medication for treatment of low thyroid. She also takes a supplement to help her not get stiff from an old injury. She is in great health and has a wonderful temperament. Are you the lucky family that will be living with Libby?
