Lexxie and her kennel mate Lucky are victims of the economic downturn. Their owner was forced to relinquish them because of an impending foreclosure on their home in Virginia. MAESSR came to the rescue and will find them loving forever homes.
This mild-mannered, Velcro Springer is a sweet girl who follows her people wherever they go. If you like to go walking, she is great on the leash! Lexxie does not pull and she walks at a very nice pace. Even the ten-year-old son in her foster family finds her easy to walk. Along the way, any person or dog she meets becomes her friend instantly. In her foster home, Lexxie gets along fine with both the resident Springer and cat. The cat finds Lexxie somewhat of a novelty and seems particularly interested in her because he is used to just male dogs. Whoever thinks that cats and dogs cannot be friends is wrong!
Although she is housetrained, Lexxie has had some accidents in the house and her foster parents are trying to determine if this is just due to adjusting to a new environment. She does not like to be crated and she currently has free run of the first floor of the house when the foster parents are at work. In the kitchen, Lexxie does counter-surf, but a simple correction seems to stop this behavior. Since she is overweight, her foster family is watching the treats and increasing her exercise so she trims down. When it comes to commands, Lexxie does listen to the basics like come, sit, no, and stay lthough the commands sometimes need to be repeated until she responds. Although she has not been riding much in the car since her transport to her foster home, she was fine for that trip.
Lexxie is ready to wiggle her way into some family’s heart. Do you need a four-legged best friend? Lexxie’s waiting!
