Original: This petite girl and her sister came into MAESSR’s care as her Pennsylvania family could no longer care for them. Although a little shy, Lena is a sweet, loving little girl who appears not to have had a lot of interaction with people. She is indeed little. Lena weighs 21 pounds and is at a healthy weight for her. She has beautiful markings, nice feathering, and is in good health. That she is very petite simply makes it extra easy to snuggle her onto your lap!
Lena is good with other dogs, is not interested in the resident cats, was good around a 2-year-old child she was exposed to since coming into foster care and is extremely gentle with the resident min-pin.
Her house manners are lovely. There is no counter-surfing, trash diving or begging. She loves to be brushed. She will only get on furniture when very excited and gets down as soon as she is told. Since coming to her foster home, she has learned the meaning of no, leave it, sit, and she is working on her leash manners. Lena sleeps in a crate in her foster mom’s room at night. During the day when she feels overwhelmed, she will go to her crate on her own to be alone, taking a toy along for company. She is crated when the family is not home.
Although a little shy with strangers, Lena doesn’t bark at them and will quickly warm up to any attention offered. Her foster mom has seen no signs of aggression or guarding of food and Lena will willingly give up toys or anything she picks up in her mouth.
This girl is the best of both worlds, a house trained “puppy” who is ready to fit into any situation, loves to be outdoors and is active enough to enjoy walks, jogging or wandering in the woods. This girl is up for just about anything. She does get carsick on long rides, as she has never been taken for rides, and her foster family is working to help her with short car rides.
This sweet girl needs a home where she can get the attention and guidance to allow her personality to blossom. Will you help bring Lena into bloom?
