Updated 12/5/05: With a little more time in her foster home, Leila’s full personality is emerging. She is all Springer puppy love and enthusiasm. She loves to play, run around in circles, and chew on her squeaky toys.
Leila came to her foster home with a nasty urinary track infection, a variety of worms, and some stomach upset. After a quick call to the vet, her foster mom had her on all the appropriate medications and within 48 hours, she was feeling so much better. She has been eating extra meals and putting on much needed weight.
This sweet girl’s tail wags so fast that her foster mom is afraid it may fall off. Leila has found her voice and has the cutest girlie woo wooing. Her coat is growing in nicely with the appropriate feathering on her legs and chest. Curly ears frame her freckled face and golden-brown eyes.
Leila is fully housebroken and will head to the door when she needs to make an unscheduled potty break. She is very interested in counter surfing, trash cans, and dishwasher diving. There is a rumor in Princeton that Leila was seen table dancing on two separate occasions. This smart puppy learned to sit on the very first try. Her leash manners are good for a puppy so young, and there isn’t a squirrel that she doesn’t like chasing on her 25 foot flexi-leash. Leila will sleep all night in her crate without making a peep. She is very careful in selecting only the finest 18th and 19th century antiques, Persian rugs, and Birkenstock shoes for her chewing pleasures! All this said, Leila is easily redirected and is very obedient.
Leila went to the puppy gathering at the dog park over the weekend. She played with eight other puppies of all sizes under the age of 6 months and had a blast. The young male Springer in her foster home plays very gently with Leila and has been very patient when she is hanging from his lip. Her foster sister plays very rough and tumble with her. They mouth play, growling, barking, and chase each other around in circles.
Leila will benefit greatly by an obedience class with her new family. It is also a requirement of adoption. Her foster mom feels Leila will be happiest with another canine buddy and young children in her forever home.
Original: Sibling to Boston, Beau, and Bobby, this litter of puppies came into rescue shortly after the older three. The shelter staff that pulled the first three, found out that this young litter was living outside. The breeder surrendered these puppies as well. Now, Leila, Maya, Paloma, Orry, and soon Noah, are all MAESSR puppies. We will check their health, get them altered and move them on. They are happy, healthy puppies and need to be in their forever homes.
Leila is a sweet girl, the quietest of the three. She loves to play but is also very happy to be held and cuddled. She is also the most interested in the toddler in her foster family. She’d love to live with a family with kids.
